AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that defies usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized release, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a secret sect.
The mission concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Bonus Material
Players who finish the mission will acquire an exclusive katana together with numerous objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's latest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Partnerships
This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
